Gran Cenote

Cenotes are natural sinkholes that expose crystal clear groundwater underneath. Cenotes all around the Yucatan attract cave divers from all over the world who map and explore these crazy underwater systems. We decided to cool off here after the archeological site and try a bit of snorkeling. It was Steff’s first time donning a snorkeling mask and she loved every second of it. The water here was super clear, not too crowded, and opened up to expose these amazing underwater pockets. I had a field day with the underwater camera that I brought. This was definitely the most fun we had during our trip and it’d be a crime to come to this part of the world and not explore these cenotes. The locals say that if you miss out on the cenotes you miss out on half the beauty that Tulum has to offer.
