Bosphorus River Cruise Tour

After checking into our hotel in Beşiktaş, we took a short walk down to the water to do a little bit of exploring. Without knowing too much, we hopped on one of the ferries that takes you on a tour of the Bosphorus. The Bosphorus is a 20 mile long straight that connects the Sea of Marmara to the south with the Black Sea to the north. This one hour ride up and down the straight really opened my eyes to what Istanbul was all about. On the one hand, you could see these beautiful stately homes, palaces, and Medieval fortresses, and on the other, you got a glimpse of what contemporary Istanbul was all about. Seeing new bumpin’ restaurants mixed with old domes and palaces gave me a feeling that I was really going to like Istanbul after getting off the ferry.
